When Cheryl Silver’s son turned one, she gathered the hours
and hours of video she’d taken throughout the year. Picking out the
highlights, Silver wove together a loose story – describing her son’s
milestones and showcasing his growth. Those who saw the video
wanted one for their own child. And thus, Silver Screen
Productions was born.
Since its inception, Silver has produced and edited many
wonderful projects. Perhaps the most meaningful was the adoption
story she created for her sister’s new daughter. Weeding through 10
hours of home video before, during, and after the life-changing trip
to China, Silver created a 20-minute story that captures the
excitement, nerves and joy of the experience. Silver’s niece loves to
watch the video now, and it will be a valuable keepsake to her as she
grows older.
After receiving a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s
Medill School of Journalism, Silver worked as a reporter and
videographer for a Fox TV news affiliate. She then spent several
years as a television producer for ABC Network News, where she
produced news stories for affiliates across the country. She also
associate-produced an Emmy award-winning public affairs
documentary for Chicago’s PBS affiliate, WTTW, and developed an
educational video series designed to teach students to be thoughtful
media consumers. Silver worked in interactive media development
prior to launching Silver Screen Productions.
